- UNESCO and the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture, with the generous financial support of the Korean government, are implementing a project to build a Cultural Centre near the boundaries of the World Heritage property of Cultural Landscape and Archaeological Remains of Bamiyan. This project has the express purpose of promoting cross-cultural awareness between ethnic groups as a solution to reconciliation, peace-building and economic development in Afghanistan. The Bamiyan Cultural Centre will be a corner stone in efforts to preserve culture, promote research and build community around culture, and thereby creating cohesion in a fractured cultural context.
