- Dubai Economic Council (DEC) is an innovative initiative launched in 2003 by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, to act as a strategic partner for the Government of Dubai in economic policy-making that promote prosperous business environments, productivity, and a healthy investment climate, as well as to enhance Dubai's competitiveness in the world economy. The members of DEC are the representatives of business community in Dubai, public and private sectors. The role of the DEC's Secretariat-General revolves around the Council, Executive Committee, and Ad-hoc committees in formulating policy recommendation. This role can be achieved by employing economic and strategic experts that are responsible for conducting cutting-edge researches and initiatives through the Secretariat's affiliates; Economic Policy and Research Center (EPRC), the Dubai Competitiveness Center (DCC), and the Legal Affairs and Research Center (LARC).
