- The Optometric Vision Center (OVC) was established in 1948 by Dr. Raymond M. Paz. Dr. Paz, who was a native Las Crucen, had the opportunity to pursue his optometric education from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry. When he returned to New Mexico Dr. Paz opened a family optometry practice in the heart of Las Cruces. For forty years he provided optometric care to Las Cruces and the surrounding community. Dr. Paz was also closely involved with his community and active in his church and in civic organizations. He served two terms on the New Mexico Board of Examiners for Optometry and 25 years with the Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Board. The City of Las Cruces recognized Dr. Paz’ community service in 1979 with the dedication of the Raymond M. Paz Sports Complex. Dedicated to his family, community, and country, Dr. Raymond Paz established the firm business foundation that OVC enjoys today.
