- Title
- GCTS-SGHS | Greene County Training School - South Greene High School
- Meta Description
- The first major break in the expansion of education for the Greene County 'Colored' Schools came as the result of an American businessman and philanthropist - Julius Rosenwald. Desiring to improve the opportunities and living conditions of Negroes in America, Rosenwald established a fund in 1917, which eventually contributed to the building of more than 5,000 rural Negro schools. One of these was erected in our dear county, opening for the first time in the fall of 1925. After a short period of time the name of the school officially became Greene County Training School.
