- The Media Council of Kenya is a statutory body established in October 2007 by the Media Act CAP 411B as the leading institution in the regulation of media and the conduct and discipline of journalists. The Council is the leading institution in the regulation of media and the conduct and discipline of journalists in Kenya. The Council started as a self-regulating body for the media industry in Kenya but has espoused the co-regulation approach, where board members and the Secretariat while receiving government funds to support some of its activities, remain very independent in their operations and are not subject to any form of control.
