The new ATG infrastructure located within the subway will significantly improve station security in and around the station area whilst also protecting revenue. The new ATG gateline has been further complimented with the installation of 4x new Ticket Vending Machineswhich will help customers purchase tickets quickly and conveniently. Rochdale is the last station to have ATGs installed under Arriva Rail North's 2017 'Phase 2' programme. In June 2017, Gryphon Management were appointed Principal Designer and Principal Contractor for the Phase 2 project that consisted of; St Helens Central, Warrington Central, Hartlepool, Glossop, Barrow-in-Furness and Rochdale.
