- Welcome to the Institute of Law and Economics. The Institute of Law and Economics (ILE) began with the recognition of the need to bridge the intellectual gap between the legal and economic professions. In 1998, activities to bridge this gap started with the provision of tutorial guidance for students doing the LLB degree by distance learning with the University of London and the University of Wolverhampton. Formally registered in 1999, ILE soon became agents for Holborn College, the UK’s oldest and most established independent college.
