- Joadja is an historic town (ruins) situated in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia where thousands of Scottish miners worked the rich kerosene shale deposit in the late 1800's. A small distillery operates and the public can come and visit the fascinating ruins and distillery on limited selected open days. Joadja is a listed heritage property of national significance. We are currently awaiting council approval to operate Joadja as a tourism destination with a strong emphasis on education and conservation. Accommodation, functions and events and even camping (Glamping) are on the agenda. Stay tuned.
