The Office of Regional Aviation Assistance (ORAA) supports the goals of the Maryland Department of Transportation Aviation Administration (MAA) to meet the air service needs of Maryland and to promote safety and security, environmental stewardship and economic development. The ORAA fosters, develops and regulates aeronautical activities within the State. Activities of the ORAA include recommending policies governing aeronautical activity, management of State financial and technical assistance grants programs, and licensing and regulation of public-use airports in Maryland. There are 141 airports in the State, of which 36 are public-use facilities with two offering scheduled air carrier service.
