Bay Area’s original Korean tofu house since 1999, where traditional and genuine Korean food is served along with innovative and artistic dishes not found elsewhere. Pyeong Chang Tofu House opened in Oakland California in 1999 specialized in Korean traditional tofu soup along with stoneware Bi Bim Bab for 15 years. Instant rice is cooked in the hot stoneware to the customers and the remaining rice in the stoneware are to be enjoyed either crunchy rice (nulungji) or pour hot water to make a soup (nulungjitang). Pyeong Chang’s side dishes (banchans) comes in seven different types of vegetables and they are interchanged every day and seasonally except for Kimchi and sweet potatoes. The seven different banchans are cooked with the vegetables that appear in season in particular, it is well known as a healthy food to minimize the destruction of nutrients.
