- The World Small Hydro Development Report 2013 (WSHPDR 2013) and the knowledge platform www.smallhydroworld.org offer the world’s first assessment of global small hydropower data. The website aims at identifying the world’s small hydropower development status and its potential in different countries and regions by engaging with stakeholders to share information. The platform responds to the growing demand and interest from UNIDO’s member states in small hydropower as a solution for increased energy access in rural areas. The assessment is based on the contribution of more than 60 different authors or organizations. It contains 20 regional overviews and 149 country-level reports, dealing with installed and potential small hydropower capacities, relevant legislation, project experiences and barriers to small hydropower development.
