- Square Sounds Festival (formerly Blip Festival) kicks off in February 2013 with a show at the Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne Australia and will be joined later in 2013 with a show in Tokyo Japan and potentially more shows down the track. The 2 day festival which primarily focuses on chipmusic (also known as chiptune or 8bit music) also incorporates some styles influenced by chipmusic and its beginnings thrown it. It will feature a broad range of musical genres that both recall the sounds of the 80’s and stand up against the most up to date of modern music. The video game consoles used to create the music and visuals include game boys, amigas and commodore 64s combined together with not only modern computers, but also vocals and “real” instruments.
